Summary Curriculum Vitae

Prof. Collins is a Certified Welding Inspector, and has previously been qualified as Level II inspector in Dye Penetrant and Magnetic Particle Inspection. He has held welding qualifications to ABS, AWS, ASME IX, and NAVSHIPS 250-1500. During his ten years as Welding Engineer at Bath Iron Works, he researched, developed, and put into production semiautomatic and mechanized Pulse Gas Metal Arc Welding for aluminum and steel hull structure. He has recently completed a Master's in Adult Education and Distance Learning. Current projects at MMA include developing courses for delivery over the Internet, and revising the AWS D3A Guide to Aluminum Hull Welding.
