STUDENT WELDING PROJECTS


  • Aluminum Skiffs:  Marina Management and Small Vessel Operations students lofted (lay-out) the pieces for an aluminum skiff, and the Advanced Welding students cut it out and welded it together. Then we raced!
  • Research Vessel Argo: Replacement towing cable cages, new life raft launching systems, an aluminum winch control house, students working on a sea-going vessel using the latest in welding technology: Pulse Gas Metal Arc Welding, Plasma Arc Cutting, etc.
  • Stainless Steel Prop Guard: a fisherman saw the first one a student made and asked him to make another one.
  • AWS D1.1 Weld Test: similar to tests given for welder certification.
  • Stainless Rudders for the Hill: replacement of corroded steel rudders
  • ASME Downhill Racer:  student club members race this car in Quebec
  • T/V State of Maine:welding projects for our training ship
  • Diesel Laboratory: welding HDPE plastic and sheetmetal
  • Advanced Welding Fall 2000: several projects in the Welding Laboratory
  • Work Study: these guys keep the Welding Laboratory running and make improvements
  • Spring 2002 projects: "bumpah", keel shoe, tractor cutting.
  • ABS Q3 6G Pipe Welding Test: a big achievement for the student welder
